My involvement on campus

I consider that being involved on campus and doing things for the community is as important as being a good student. I love to spend my time doing extracurricular activities and helping others succeed.

1. Honors College Student Council - HCSC

Junior Year

I am currently the Vice President of the Honors Student Council at Indiana University Indianapolis.

This is my third year as a board member of the Council. I am extremely excited and thankful to participate in such an incredible opportunity, that allows me to take into bigger leadership positions with much more responsibilities.

I am looking forward to this upcoming year and to all the initiatives we will develop to improve the life and college experience of honors students.

Sophomore Year

After being accepted in the Honors College and the Kelley Honors Program during my Sophomore year, I joined the IU Indianapolis Honors College Student Council as a Second Year Representative.

By taking this role in the Student Council, I was able to contribute on creating meaningful improvements for the Honors College by representing all the second year honors students at IU Indianapolis.

The Honors College Student Council organized a “Popcorn and Pixar” event for students to take a break from studying for finals, giving them the opportunity to enjoy a movie night with their friends.

The Suggestion box has been created for all IU Indianapolis Honors Students to share their feedback and needs with HCSC.
This is a great proposal because it gives us the opportunity to hear more about the students opinions, and about what topics we need to discuss in order to improve the environment in the IU IndianapolisHonors Community.

I had the opportunity to participate in the 15th annual Regatta at IU Indianapolis, rowing as part of the Honors College Student Council team.

I am currently a NCAA D1 Athlete part of the Women's Golf Team at IU Indianapolis, where I started competing in the Fall of 2021. So far, I have competed in all tournaments as a Jaguar, ranking as the Top-2 player of the team during my Sophomore year.

3. Women's Golf Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Representative

Representative of the Women's Golf team at the monthly meetings of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where we discuss relevant information and opportunities for improvement for all student-athletes at Indiana University Indianapolis.

By taking part in this role, I have the opportunity to work with high executives directors from IUI's Athletic Department and the NCAA D1 Horizon League.

4. Kelley-Daniels Case Competition

I had the opportunity to participate in the 24th annual Kelley-Daniels Case Competition as part of the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis team, along with my teammates Kimberly Hestermann, Christian Sickmeier and Lucas Hinkle.

The competition consisted on developing a new idea and promotional plan for GoCharlie.ai. We had to select an specific target market, study why that concrete target market will result in a growth for the company, and what marketing strategies will be implemented to reach that audience at the lowest cost possible. All within less than 24 hours.

It was for sure a challenging but rewarding experience. Getting to do such research and analysis for a company whose product revolves around Artificial Intelligence in such short time, getting to have a conversation with Brennan M. Woodruff, the Co-Funder and CBO of GoCharlie, and then presenting our idea to a jury panel composed by some of the most experienced business employers in the industry was something very exciting.

This opportunity has allowed me to grow in my presentation, research, and time management skills, as well as in getting real life business experience. Moreover, seeing other teams presentations and analysis was something that I considered to be inspiring and something that has motivated me to further improve in this area.

Overall it was an amazing experience and something that I would love to keep developing on in the near future!

5. National College Honors Council - NCHC - Conference 2023

I had the opportunity to be one of the ten selected students from the Honors College at Indiana University Indianapolis to attend the 58th National College Honors Council (NCHC) Conference in Chicago. This year's theme was related to liberty, equality, and humanity.

During this conference I got to attend several meetings, research panels developed by students and professionals from all over the nation, workshops, and key note speaker events that talked about a wide variety of topics involving Honors College Students and their mental health, opportunities for leadership, and involvement, among many other interesting topics.

I learned a lot about equality, leadership, and human needs throughout this conference, and how Honors Students can take advantage of them, as well as learn and improve their skills in those areas. Overall I would say I had a great experience attending this National Honors College Conference with some of my peers and faculty members from Indiana University Indianapolis.

6. Volunteer Activities

I had the opportunity to volunteer with Downtown Indy, Inc. and my fellow student-athletes from Indiana University Indianapolis cleaning up the city of Indianapolis.

Me and my group cleaned up the area of the Canal Walk, a beautiful place surrounded by nature and peacefulness. Other parts of the city whose trash was picked up

by multiple other student-athletes were Georgia Street, and Monument Circle.

This experience gave me the opportunity to take part into a community service activity, allowing me to give back to the community and city of Indianapolis. Thanks to this wonderful initiative, we were able to create a big impact into the city and their fellow residents, because a clean city is a happy city.

The Unity Brunch was an event organized by the Undergraduate Student Goverment at Indiana University Indianapolis, in the department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This event was made to talk and reflect about important topics at Indiana University Indianapolis and what incentives/issues the students, faculty, and staff notice and would like to see improvement on.

I was able to participate in this event by being the mediator in one of the tables, asking questions, listening and writing down people’s thoughts, something that will be used to implement future incentives in Indiana University Indianapolis.

This was an amazing oportunity that allowed me to learn more about people’s backgrounds and their culture, as well as their experiences at Indiana University Indianapolis.

Had the opportunity to volunteer with some of the wonderful members of Women in Business at IU Indianapolis at Indy Reads, a non profit organization that achieves to bring literacy for all.

Their mission is to build literacy, the English language, and job readiness skills to empower adults and families to reach their full potential, which they accomplish by engaging in community classrooms and community programs in their bookstore, promoting equity through literary and literacy events and classes.

Our task consisted on assembling, labeling, stamping, and counting letters that Indy Reads will then send for Thanksgiving to everyone who supports their organization and who contributes to make their mission possible. We ended up making over 2,000 letters!!!
